Virtual Reality Now Open At Bell Works In Holmdel

HOLMDEL, NJ — There are getting to be so many places to play in Monmouth County. An ax throwing business is opening this fall in Matawan, and an escape room and indoor golf space are coming to Holmdel.

While there's no word yet on when the golf or escape room will open, the long-awaited virtual reality center inside Bell Works in Holmdel is scheduled to have its grand opening this Saturday, Sept. 28, the company just announced.

It's called oasisVRX and they will have 20 different virtual reality stations, all located in a ground floor space off the atrium in Bell Works in Holmdel.

They will be open from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 28 and 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29. As part of their grand opening, they will be offering free simulated roller coaster rides, plus twenty percent off their immersion, tidal wave and tsunami packages.

They will also hold a raffle this weekend to win free time slots to experience their VR.

The company says they will have 20 virtual reality stations inside, for individual, multi–player and wireless free-roam. There are also brainteaser puzzles, escape rooms and group play, plus virtual reality for fitness, travel and meditation. Yes, that's right: Meaning you can "virtually" work out, meditate or even travel to far-flung corners of the world, all without leaving Monmouth County.

There will also be plenty of your traditional "shoot'em-up" virtual reality video games.

oasisVRX also has a one-of-a-kind exclusive "free roam" arena and “Loco Motion” area featuring four state-of-the-art motion seats, where you can ride over 20 roller coasters and race the hottest cars on world-famous tracks.

Virtual reality is a hot trend in the field of entertainment and it is fitting that an outpost is now part of Bell Works, which has been reinvented by developer Ralph Zucker as a Central Jersey technology hub.

“We created oasisVRX so that every person, no matter their age, can utilize the most exciting immersive form of entertainment offered on the market today,” said oasisVRX co-founder Todd Schobel in a statement provided to Patch. “We are excited to be a part of the tech epicenter of the Greater New York City area.”

They do not sell food on site, but there are plenty of dining options in Bell Works, including a food court. They'll be offering 20 percent off meals and free samples from Hummus & Pita this Saturday.

oasisVRX says they are also BYOB.

Many are not familiar with the full meaning or scope of virtual reality. Steven Spielberg directed a 2017 movie about it, "Ready Player One." It was a film that received little critical acclaim or box office success, but predicted the pitfalls of escapism and virtual reality:
