16th Summer Wrestling Tourney at HHS

Draws from five counties.

For the 16th summer in a row, the Hopatcong Chiefs are hosting wrestlers from about 22 schools for four days of open wrestling.

Incoming freshman to incoming seniors are eligible to attend any or all of the four days of wrestling, which began last week with two sessions. The tournament draws from five northern New Jersey counties.

The four-day tournament is a major fundraising event for the Chiefs wrestling program. And Tom Vara, director of athletics at Hopatcong High School, said the event has seen some really big names in wrestling come through the program over time.
