$1M River Styx Bridge Work Almost Done

Rehabilitation of old bridge to finish in November.

It's almost done.

The Sussex County Department of Engineering and Planning said $1 million worth of construction to the River Styx Bridge will finish in November. The project, which started in March, has been in its underwater stages for the last few weeks.

The bridge's rehabilitation was funded via the 2010 New Jersey Local Bridges, Future Needs program ($1 million) and Sussex County funds ($106,640).

Merco of Lebanon, which was awarded the project, still must complete upper pile repairs, the county said. The company must also replace secondary substructure bracing and repair and re-jackect steel H-piles at the mudline.
