2 Straight W's for Hopatcong Youth Wrestling
Team topples Morris Knolls with toughness, tenacity.
The following is from Hopatcong Youth Wrestling.
The Hopatcong youth wrestlers got their second consecutive victory as they defeated the Morris Knolls Jr eagles, 53-42, last night in Denville.
Hopatcong was up early in match and then they fell behind in the middle, but then won four of last five matches to seal the victory and are now 3-4 in Tri-County League.

Conner Loven (50 pounds) lost a tough match. Frankie Mastroeni (55 pounds) pinned his opponent. Jarrett Luciani (60 pounds) lost a tough match. Mikey Mastroeni (65 pounds) won a decision. Brandon Olmstead (70 pounds) received a forfeit to put Hopatcong ahead, 15-12.
Jason Cramer (75 pounds) suffered a tough loss. Anthony Mastroeni (80 pounds) won via pin against defending a defending champion. Ray Smaha (85 pounds) won a decision. Anthony Smaha (90 pounds) won his match via pin, putting Hopatcong up, 30-18.

Anthony Rodriguez (96 pounds) and Bart Yaros (102 pounds) both lost tough matches followed by a forfeit at 110 pounds and Jr. Eagles took the lead, 36-30.
The place was loud as everyone knew that the next five matches would determine the victor. All season long the Hopatcong team had battled to be in a position to win the close match.
Jake Wilkerson (118 pounds) won via pin and the Hopatcong faithful were loud as the score was tied, 36-36.
Scott Prior (126 pounds) won via tech fall, just missing pinning his opponent, sending Hopatcong’s crowd into a roar.
Zach Kennedy (136 pounds) won via forfeit and giving Hopatcong a 47-36 advantage.
Both sides were anxious for the next two matches as they would decide the team winner. Two pins by Morris Knolls and the match would be over.
Brayan Rodriguez (146 pounds) went out and got the first-period pin and silenced the Morris Knolls crowd as Hopatcong sealed the victory. Dylon Frazier (165) lost a tough match, but the final score was in Hopatcong’s favor: 53-42.
Next match is on Saturday against Montville and Roxbury.
