Here are 5 Things You Need to Know from the meeting.
- You Need to Know About Hopatcong Day: Recreation coordinator Sue Parichuk said it's set for July 9 with a July 16 rain date. It'll kick off with a parade starting at St. Jude's Parish, ending at Modick Park. Parichuk also said there will be a hot dog eating contest, children's rides, vendors, a small petting zoo, pony rides and more.
- You Need to Know About Movie Night: That's set for June 24 at Veterans Field from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The movie won't start until around 9 p.m. The film hasn't been chosen.
- You Need to Know About a Skate Park Addition: The metal bleachers at the Hopatcong Senior Citizen Center's tennis courts will soon be moved to the Brant Park street hockey rink.
- You Need to Know About a Memorial Day Surprise: Patch reported weeks ago that Hopatcong would host a tribute to U.S. Army Sgt. Michael D. Kirspel Jr., a borough resident who was killed in Afghanistan in October, as part of its Memorial Day parade on May 28. But there's more. A memorial will be unveiled in tribute to Kirspel and other Hopatcong residents who have died in combat.
