IN SHORT

After going scoreless through the first four innings, Hopatcong head coach Chris Buglovsky dug into his team. The Chiefs players responded by getting two runs in the top of the fifth to take the lead, 2-1. After catcher D.J. Ross drew a walk, speedy Miguel Burgos came into pinch run. First Burgos stole second, then he stole third base. While stealing third, Burgos advanced home on a throwing error by Colts catcher Chris Villante. Designated hitter Rob Nadrowski would then draw another walk for the Chiefs and Jake Winch drove him in with a double as the Chiefs took the lead.

Hopatcong threatened for more runs in the top of the fifth as they had the bases loaded, but came up short as their next two batters struck out. The Colts tied the game up in the bottom half of the fifth on second baseman Trever Peden's RBI single.

The Chiefs had runners on with two outs in the top half of the sixth inning before the game was called due to rain and safety concerns as bats were flying out of the players hands.

CHIEF OF THE GAME
Miguel Burgos—
Four stolen bases and a run scored.

The Colts couldn't get Burgos out as he was a serious problem on the basepaths. His two stolen bases and scored run in the top half of the fifth inning ignited the Chiefs rally.

OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES
Jake Winch (Hopatcong), 1-for-3 with an RBI double.

RJ Gianetti (Kinnelon), Pitched an inning and a third with three strikeouts.

THEY SAID IT
"I told them I'm gonna find out what you guys are made of in a day in which the elements are horrible, it's not talent I wanna see it's heart. That is what is gonna get us to where we need to get."–Head coach Chris Buglovsky
