Big Rally Leads to Win for Hopatcong
Hopatcong all-star baseball team scores come-from-behind victory over Wallkill Valley.

After coming up short in their first game of double elimination, falling, 9-5, to Frankford-Branchville on Tuesday night, and with their backs against the wall, Hopatcong beat Walkill Valley, 6 -5, Wednesday night, scoring five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out an amazing come from behind victory to remain alive!
Batting in the bottom of the seventh inning and trailing, 5-1, Anthony Melillo led off with a walk, followed by a single from C.J. Robertson. After a fielders' choice, Hopatcong’s four consecutive singles by Brennan Dickens, PJ Rodick, Christian Ammiano and Brandon Vanderhoof, produced five runs. Ammiano drove in the tying run, plating Rodick, followed by Vanderhoof who drove in Ammiano with the winning run.

Starting pitcher Ammiano and winning pitcher Ben Carreno, worked out of several jams, to keep the game close. They were supported by some big defensive plays throughout the game, led by Dalton Del Rosso’s solid play at shortstop, and Tyler Robertson who had a clutch catch in left field. Del Rosso drove in Christopher Stundon with Hopatcong’s first run in the fifth inning.
