BRIEF: Flipping Around Vets Softball Field

If you've driven past lately, you've probably noticed a big steel cage, mounds of dirt and big, yellow machines

That's because the softball field's renovation is finally underway.

The plan is to flip the diamond so home plate faces the woods. This solves the problem of home runs raining onto the soccer field. It also allows the borough to address a drainage problem that's plauged the field for years.

Little League President Cathy Bowen said Tuesday the field should be ready for next spring.

"If I have to miss a season, in the long run, I'm OK with that," she said.

Meantime, Little League softball will spread to other fields, such as , Senior Field, and even in the corner of the .
