I often give a public voice to the mismanagement of our tax dollars to services rendered. Today I give my voice of praise to the timely work performed by our municipality. Having a home at the bottom of a slopping street means water collects in front of our home. Our top slope neighbors had their home city water flowing into our street. This caused a massive sheet of ice to form in the street's depression in front of our home. The ice problem was now a big road hazard issue. We placed a call to the Hopatcong Police who in turn contacted the DWP and they investigated the problem and immediately salted the street. This was followed up a few hours later with a front loader truck that scooped up the ice from the road. The job was then completed with a salting truck that salted the residual remaining ice. Today, if someone asked me if our Hopatcong tax dollars were well spent, today, the last day of 2013, I can confirm that my neighborhood received outstanding service from our tax dollars. May the coming New Year in 2014, show continued shining examples everyday like this one - Our tax dollars are spent for excellent services to its residents by a municipality that's attentive to the welfare, safety and needs of its people.
