Fire At Home Of Bunny-Slapping Hopatcong Cop Day After Guilty Plea: Report
Arson has not been ruled out, a spokesperson for the Morris County Prosecutor's Office told Patch.
HOPATCONG, NJ — One day after pleading guilty to slapping a man in a bunny suit, a fire broke out at the home of a Hopatcong police officer, nj.com first reported.
The Morris County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Fred Slowflack confirmed to Patch a house fire Tuesday night in Mount Arlington is currently being investigated. NJ.com reported the home belongs to Nicholas Maresca, Jr. and Victoria Maresca.
Snowflack said no one was injured in the fire and the cause remains under investigation. According to a GoFundMe, the house and their belongings were lost in the fire.

Maresca pled guilty on Monday to harassment after slapping a man dressed in a bunny suit blowing an airhorn and was ordered to pay a $500 fine, a deal that allows him to keep his job, nj.com reported. He was originally charged with simple assault, Patch reported.
The loud bunny rabbit, Kevin Hemmerich, and his brother, Jason, were also charged with disorderly conduct, harassment and obstructing the administration of law. Their cases were settled with lesser charges earlier this month.
