Guard Earns All-Star Baseball Game Spot

Hunter Guard would love to play in the 2012 New Jersey Scholastic Coaches Association Senior All-Star Baseball Classic.

But he'll be doing something a little more important Thursday.

It's no surprise Guard, 18, was picked for the game.

The right-hander went 7-2 with a 2.33 ERA and 40 strikeouts for Hopatcong, which grabbed the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference Freedom Division crown, its first title since 1998.

Guard, who earned the Chiefs' complete-game win in the first round of the North 1, Group 2 playoffs, also hit .423 with nine home runs.
