Guard Hurls Complete Game in Hopatcong Win
Chiefs earn victory over Dumont as senior twirls complete game; face Lenape Valley Friday.

Senior fireballer Hunter Guard tossed a complete game while junior Ryan Frace went 3-for-4 as dropped No. 7 Dumont, 4-1, Wednesday on the road in the first round of the North 1, Group 2 postseason.
France knocked a double, scored a run and recorded an RBI while Guard struck out six and walked nine, giving up just four hits and a run. Guard, who improved to 6-2, in the fall.
The Chiefs (13-7) jumped out to a first-inning two-run lead after Frank Fendrock knocked in Scootie Fisher and Ben Colabella with a two-run double. Fisher led off the game with a triple, which was followed by a Colabella walk.

Hopatcong also received two-hit efforts from David Testa and Ray Annett. Though Dumont notched a third-inning run, the Chiefs distanced themselves from their competition with runs in the sixth and seventh frames.
Hopatcong will host Lenape Valley at home Friday in the second round of the playoffs.
