Hopatcong Baseball Nabs Share of League Title

's baseball team clinched a share its first league championship since 1998 Thursday, dropping Newton, 4-0, at the Homer Dome for a Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference Freedom Division crown.
The Chiefs (12-7) would take the crown outright with a win over Kittatinny Wednesday.

Adam McLagan scored the go-ahead run in the top of the fifth, legging out the back end of a double-steal. Frank Fendrock's two-run double in the seventh helped open things up for Hopatcong, which received scoreless pitching from senior Dillon DelRosso and sophomore Ryan Frace (3-2).
Senior first baseman Ray Annett went 3-for-4 and Rick Prestifilippo knocked a two-bagger.
