Hopatcong Can't Stop Mountain Lakes

Herd overwhelms Chiefs in Hopatcong's football home-opener.

IN SHORT
Hopatcong lost to Mountain Lakes, 28-0, on Friday. Mountain Lakes jumped all over Hopatcong right from the start. Interceptions, dropped passes and inexperience hurt the Chiefs in this contest. Hopatcong’s defense put up a fight but the offense could not find the end zone. Hopatcong had a chance to at least get on the scoreboard before the end of regulation when fullback Feyi Olubenga roared to the Mountain Lakes 20-yard line on a 57-yard run.  But Hopatcong’s excitement was quickly dashed when Hopatcong quarterback sophomore Ryan Clarke’s final pass was intercepted by Mountain Lake’s cornerback Rob Orazietti.

TOUGH OPPONENT
The Hopatcong Chiefs for showing some heart against a strong Mountain Lakes Herd.

THEY SAID IT
"Our guys played their hearts out tonight. We made some mistakes in the game. We showed some heart in the second half but the mistakes hurt us. A team can't afford to make too many mistakes against a team like Mountain Lakes.” — Hopatcong head coach Gary Andolena
