Hopatcong Readies for Uncontested Primaries
Polls will be open Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

It's almost primary time.
Hopatcong residents can vote in the primary elections from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. But they won't have to do much thinking.
Voters will choose candidates for the open mayor and two open council spots. On the Republican side, only incumbent Sylvia Petillo will run for the open mayor seat while incumbent John Young and Estelle Klein, who served from 2003 to 2008, will run for the open council spots. No Democrats filed for the primaries.

Petillo, Young and Councilwoman Madeline McManus will see their terms expire in December. McManus, a fourth-term Democrat, said in April she was But on Sunday, McManus said she wouldn't run.
The primaries set the stage the Nov. 8 general election. Last year, defeated independent Mara Modes for two open council seats.

At the state senator level, incumbent Steve Oroho will run uncontested on the Republican ticket while Edwin Selby will run unopposed for the Democrats. And in the general assembly, Alison Littell McHose and Gary R. Chiusano will run uncontested for the Republicans while Leslie Huhn and Jim Nye will run unopposed on the Democratic ticket.
On the county level, Phillip Crabb and Dennis Mudrick will battle it out for the Republican freeholder nomination while no Democrats filed. Jeffrey Parrott, the acting clerk, will run unopposed on the Republican ticket for county clerk. Again, no Democrats filed.
