The Hopatcong High School Girls Soccer and Football programs will host the first annual “Think Pink” soccer and football weekend focusing on raising money to help support Breast Cancer research. Among women ages 20 to 59, Breast Cancer is the leading cause of death, second to Lung Cancer.

Breast Cancer accounts for one of every three cancer diagnosis in women in the United States. Nearly 200,000 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in the United States this year and about 40,000 women will die from Breast Cancer this year. An additional 60,000 new cases of non-invasive breast cancer are expected to occur among women this year (Komen, 2010). Breast Cancer is not only a disease found in females, in the United States alone nearly 2,000 cases will be diagnosed in men this year.
During these games and throughout the month of October, the members of the Girls Soccer and Football teams as well as the coaching staff will be wearing pink to help show their support in the fight against Breast Cancer. The Hopatcong Chiefs are asking that we come to the October 13th Soccer game versus Hackettstown at 4 pm and the October 14th Football game versus Kittatinny at 7 pm wearing pink to help show your support and help to support the Chiefs on their mission to help put and end to Breast Cancer.
Losing is not an option.
Thank you,
Hilary Gorzelnik Gary Andolena
