PHOTOS: Hopatcong Street Hockey Hands Out Honors

The children couldn’t wait. After rain postponed the ceremony the day before, they crowded around the table, searching for their names on the green trophies.

Hopatcong’s street hockey league doled out its awards Saturday night at , and coordinator Aldo Caprio said the kids seemed almost as excited as they were for the start of the season.

The league honored its top defensemen, goalie and in each of its two age-specific divisions. League-wide trophies were given to the top player and sportsman.

Before trophies were handed out, Caprio addressed the crowd and thanked them for their support.  When he started calling names of players in the younger Division B program, kids eagerly hopped out of their seats and stood in front of the crowd with their trophy.

After the trophies were handed out, players devoured cupcakes with icing matching their team colors.
