Sports Wrap: Baseball Romps Boonton, Golf Falls to Hackettstown

Chiefs receive two homers from star sluggers.

Hopatcong's baseball team is picking up where it left off last year.

The Chiefs' 2010 season ended in the playoffs. After Wednesday's 12-0 win over Boonton in five innings on the road, it looks like they're going back.

Hopatcong improved to 4-2-1 on the strength of Dillon Del Ross's one-hit gem. He went all five innings, striking out three and walking one. Jake Winch, a senior, went 3-for-3 with a homer and three RBI. Junior Hunter Guard had two hits, including a homer, and two RBI.

The Bombers fell to 6-3.

The Hopatcong golf team didn't fare as well, falling to Hackettstown, 195-226.

The Chiefs received a 43 from Shane Sickles, who had the day's lowest score. Colleen McNamara shot a 57; Pat McNamara shot a 62 and Alex Frato shot a 64.

Kyle Chesney had the Tigers' lowest score with a 44.
