Sports Wrap: Hopatcong Baseball Drubs Vernon, Softball Sputters
LoBue, Ross each homer. Toropiw triples twice.

The Homer Dome's starting to look like home.
Hopatcong drubbed Vernon, 12-5, on Thursday afternoon within the friendly confines of its short-porched stadium. D.J. Ross and Joey LoBue had big games for the Chiefs, which improved to 5-2-1.
LoBue and Ross each went 2-for-3 with a double, homer and two RBI. Vernon fell to 4-4.

Hopatcong's three-run third inning gave it the lead for good. It scored a pair of first-inning runs, but the Vikings battled back to make it 4-2 in the second.

Hopatcong couldn't get it going.
The Chiefs fell to Vernon, 10-4, on the road despite two Kristen Toropiw triples. Hopatcong dropped to 1-7 while the Vikings improved to 2-7.
Emma DeLuca had three hits and two RBI in the win. Lauren Poppe was 2-for-4 wit two RBI and a pair of runs for Vernon.
