After allowing eight runs in the first inning to Kittatinny/Newton, during the semifinal District 20 Junior Little League All-Star game Friday night, with an uphill battle ahead of them, Hopatcong never gave up and continued to fight to the end.
Hopatcong continued to play hard throughout and entered the bottom of the seventh inning trailing, 12-3. But another valiant comeback attempt by Hopatcong, which scored five runs in the last frame, came up short as the boys fell, 12-8.

Hopatcong completed a solid year with a third-place finish in the tournament.
Dalton Del Rosso started the seventh-inning surge with a walk, followed by a Brennan Dickens single and Christian Ammiano’s ground-rule double, which drove in two runs.

Brandon Vanderhoof then walked. Next Jake Dorman tripled, plating another two runs, and Tyler Robertson’s double scored Hopatcong’s final run.
Del Rosso finished the game with three hits and PJ Rodick, Dorman and Robertson each recorded two hits. Ben Carreno had a single and an RBI. Anthony Melillo also singled for Hopatcong.
Christopher Stundon and CJ Robertson also provided some good defense.
