Summer Jobs Available At Lake Hopatcong State Park In Morris County

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — If you’re looking for a summer job this year, there may be a paycheck waiting from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

According to a bulletin on the New Jersey Civil Service Commission website, there are multiple “summer seasonal jobs” available with the DEP in several Garden State counties, including Lake Hopatcong State Park in Morris County:

“The New Jersey State Summer Employment Program is designed to provide summer job opportunities to any person over 16 years of age,” the employment bulletin states. “Every effort will be made to place applicants, however, hiring preference will be given to New Jersey residents. Employment for those between the ages of 16 and 18 is limited to positions where job duties and work schedules are permissible by law.”

According to the bulletin, available positions with the DEP include:

Seasonal Maintenance

• Salary: $8.44 per hour
• Duties: Clean restrooms and bathhouses, plunge clogged toilets, clean windows on park buildings, clean charcoal grills, pick up trash, assist with landscaping, assist with event setup

Seasonal Office Worker

• Salary: $8.44 per hour
• Duties: Provide information assistance to visitors, answer telephones, assist with billing and filing, operating park radio equipment, preparing correspondence, possible work in toll booth collecting fees

Seasonal Visitor Services

• Salary: $8.44 per hour
• Duties: Alert visitors about park regulations, assist with trash pickup and cleaning, reporting emergencies, performing park inspections

Seasonal Lifeguard

• Salary: $8.44 per hour
• Duties: Performing lifeguard functions, performing CPR and first-aid, cleaning beach

Seasonal Natural/Historic Educator

• Salary: $8.44 per hour
• Duties: Conducting nature and historic tours, assisting with public information materials, participating in special events, conducting research
