Tennis: Foe Topples Hopatcong

Experienced Kittatinny drops Chiefs, 4-1.

Kittatinny (5-2) proved to be too strong and too experienced for Hopatcong (1-8), winning, 4-1, in Thursday’s NJAC match in Hopatcong.

Cory Tuttle—Tuttle continued his winning ways at the third singles position, beating Devin Nunley, 6-2, 6-4. The only senior on the team, Cory has only one loss this season. On Monday, he moved up to second singles against Newton and won his match.

The second doubles duo of Cory Onstad and Mathias Mereles lost a close match, 7-5, 6-3.

THEY SAID IT

“We are a fairly young team with only Cory (Tuttle) the only senior. It’s nice to see Cory coming into his own in his senior year and representing for the team,” coach Traci Duffy said.

UP NEXT—On Tuesday the Chiefs travel to Lenape Valley to finish a rain-shortened match from last week. On Wednesday, they will head to Wallkill Valley at 4 p.m.
