Toropiw Named College Rookie of Week

The 2011 Hopatcong grad scored her first two college goals last week as Felician went 3-0.

Kirsten Toropiw has looked comfortable wearing Felician College colors lately.

The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference named the graduate its Women's Soccer Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday.

Toropiw, at 5-foot-7, started each of Felician's three wins this week at stopper. The freshman netted her first two college goals in Sunday's 3-1 regular season-ending win road over Nyack College—including the eventual game winner with 50 minutes left. Toropiw played every minute in the wins as Felician outscored its opponents 10-1.

Toropiw started all 18 games for Felician this season with two goals and one assist. She helped lead the Golden Falcons to a team 1.31 goals-against average and six victories by shutout. Toropiw shared the honor with Megan Ferrera of Caldwell College.

Felician (11-6-1, 9-3 CACC), a member of NCAA Division II, lost in the first round of the CACC Tournament today, 3-1, to Dominican (N.Y.) College. The Golden Falcons finished in second place in the conference regular-season standings.
