VIDEO: 'White Out' Shows Solidarity
A throng of students dressed in white to display school spirit during Hopatcong's 23-20 loss to Pequannock on Thursday night.
senior Julissa Gonzalez had just finished speaking with one of her sophomore friends.
"I said, 'When you're a senior, make sure you do this because obviously it's really working and everyone's together and happy," Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez was referring to Hopatcong's "White Out," during which students dressed in white to show school solidarity. And while the fans couldn't cheer the Chiefs to victory——they sure tried.

There was a vuvuzela. And a drum. And a bunch of students screaming for their favorite Chiefs throughout the game.
Athletic Director Tom Vara said it was a "perfect night" to do a "White Out."

"It's been a great school spirit thing," Vara said.
Gonzalez and fellow seniors Clint Dorman, Mike Sickles and Eryn Ammiano played major roles in organizing the event, sharing information with students via Facebook and placing notes throughout the school.
"All the hard work really paid off," Ammiano said.
Dorman said it took a little while at first to gather the "White Out" crowd.
"Then we got everybody together. It's the most we've had at any game so far so I'm happy with it," Dorman said.
For Sickles, the "White Out" served as an energy booster.
"It helped me, personally, get pumped up and I think it did the same for a lot of people," Sickles said.
The "White Out" was Hopatcong's second major display of school spirit of the fall. In September, the high school hosted a fall sports .
