
Voter turnout was considered scarce at couple of polling locations around Hopatcong on Primary Election Day.
That might not shock some, considering the races in the borough and throughout most of the county are uncontested. On the Republican ticket, Syliva Petillo, an incumbent, seeks her second straight term as mayor while John Young, also an incumbent, and Estelle Klein, who served on the council from 2003 to 2008, are seeking nominations to the two open council seats. No Democrats filed in either race.
A poll worker outside borough hall said only two voters showed up by 1 p.m.

"It's terrible," she said. "People just don't care."
Patch sept more than a half hour outside Fire Co. No. 3 Tuesday afternoon and nobody entered the polls.

Voters are able to punch ballots until 8 p.m. Polls opened at 6 a.m.
Hopatcong has 9,569 registered voters, according to the Sussex County Board of Elections.
