Woman, 22, Dies From Injuries Sustained In Morris Co. Crash, Officials Say

Also severely injured in the crash was a 38-year-old Texas man, authorities said.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A 22-year-old woman is dead following a crash in Morris County that put herself and another driver in the hospital, officials say.

Jamie Aughenbaugh, of Hopatcong, succumbed to injuries she sustained in the hospital on Sunday, five days after the crash, according to officials.

On Feb. 3, just before 3 p.m., Mount Olive police were called to Route 206 in the Flanders section of town on reports of a collision.

Authorities discovered that a white Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by a 38-year-old Randall, Texas man, collided with a black Toyota Corolla, driven by Aughenbaugh, police said.

The Texas man sustained serious injuries in the crash, and his condition is not known at this time.

The collision is being investigated by the Mount Olive Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

A GoFundMe has been launched to help Aughenbaugh’s family with funeral expenses. It has raised more than $65,000 so far.

“Jamie embodied sunshine in human form. Her energy was warm and enveloping, and life seemed to blossom wherever her light shined,” her obituary reads. “A magical and whimsical girl full of love and passion, Jamie's spirit will forever shine in the hearts of those she touched.”
