2 Incumbents Join Forces With Councilwoman For Freeholder Ticket
Krickus, Scapicchio add newcomer as most conservative bunch on the ballot.

Calling themselves the most conservative of Morris County’s Freeholders, John Krickus and David Scapicchio announced Monday they would be teaming up with Denville Councilwoman Deborah Smith for three seats on the county’s governing body in the June Primary race.
Dubbed “The Morris Conservative Team,” Krickus and Scapicchio touted the county’s savings of $30 million over the past three years along with ending taxpayer-funded health benefits for county politicians, and doubling county road paving projects.
“We set a fiscally conservative course for the county with no tax increases in our first three years,” said Scapicchio, of Mt. Olive, in a statement. “While also focusing on essential needs such as improving infrastructure. As liaison to the road department and Chair of the Capital Committee, I led the effort to double the miles of county roads that were repaved, while reducing debt by $30 million.”

“As a budget committee member we froze spending and improved efficiencies,” said Krickus, of Washington Township. “We not only provided all of the essential services Morris County property taxpayers expect, but we fully funded our non-profits making up for reduced state aid.”
Smith has spent 20 years in local government, including two years as Denville’s council president.

“I have a proven track record of fiscal responsibility, twenty-five years of managerial experience in the private sector, and will never be afraid to speak my mind,” Smith said in a statement.
The Primary Election is scheduled for June 2, and polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
