Reclaim Your Identity With Five Questions
Susan Vernicek shares her secret to reclaiming your identity with five questions.
Did you recently graduate high school or college? Are you going through a breakup or a divorce? Are you going through any other transition in your life? Are your emotions out of control? Excited, scared, sad, anxious, etc.? Being the owner of Identity Magazine, I have created a set of five questions, called the Identity Five. These questions have helped me dig inward and pull out the strengths, weakness, and future goals within myself.
I invite you to read and answer the questions yourself. Please feel free to email me know how you feel afterwards.
The Identity Five
1. What have you accepted within yourself and/or within your life? Is there anything you are working on accepting?
Now that I’m 30, I’ve had to accept many physical and mental attributes about myself. I’ve also had to accept many lifestyle situations. I would say the biggest physical features would be my legs and nose. I’ve got the soccer legs still, even though I stopped playing soccer years ago. I’ve learned to accept and not wish for thinner and longer legs because I’m 5’4 and that alone won’t give me long legs. My nose is bigger than the normal “Vernicek nose.” My six other siblings have cute, normal size noses. I got the perfect mixture of my parents' and their parents' features. If I go and change my nose, I can no longer physically represent our family genetics.
When it comes to my inner beauty, I accept the fact that I do have to work very hard for everything I go after. I am getting tired of working seven days a week and bartending on the weekends, but I know I have this energy and that it was given to me for a reason. I’m making the most out of it.
2. What do you appreciate about yourself or your life?
I appreciate my ability to focus, my athleticism, and my spontaneous attitude. I appreciate that appetite for life and success at the age of 30.
3. What have you achieved, or what are you working to achieve personally, physically, or mentally?
I have achieved many goals in life from getting out of bed each day to starting my own business. I’m most proud of raising over $1,000 for One Simple Wish where my family, friends, fans, and I were able to grant 39 wishes to children and families in need. I’m still working on a fitness goal of making a morning workout like a daily vitamin.
4. What is your not-so-perfect way? We are all unique with quirks and imperfections, so why not flaunt them and embrace them!
Well, those who know me know I have many imperfections, but the one that kills me, especially when it’s that time of the month, are my uneven breasts. Yes, I know all of us have uneven breasts, but mine are REALLY uneven – a solid cup size or more. I can’t wear certain shirts because of it, but I accept them and embrace them as much as I can.
5. How would you complete this sentence “I Love My…” this has to be about you physically or mentally.
I Love My… Stomach. It is the only feature of my body that seems to remain the same. I also love my naturally blonde hair and big blue eyes.
Phew… so that felt refreshing. I feel confident, energized, and expressed. Now I am clear on what I have accomplished, and what I still need to accomplish. I can even make a list on the next features (what do you mean by features?) or life situations I want to improve, change, and grow.
