Ex-Morris Court Officer Admits Stealing $112K From Settlements

Scott Forsbrey faces up to three years in prison and must pay back full amount, prosecutor says.

A Randolph resident and former Morris County Court officer has pleaded guilty to official misconduct after an investigation revealed he stole more than $100,000 from settlements between creditors and litigants, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp announced.

Scott Forsbrey, 52, entered his plea Monday in Superior Court in Morristown after a grand jury returned an indictment against him in January 2014.

The indictment alleged Forsbrey, then a Morris County Special Civil Part Court Officer between November 2009 and May 2012, had taken $112,874.61 more than the commission he was allowed by law to retain as part of his job duties.
