2 Killed In Crash, 2 Stabbed At Mall This Weekend In Jersey City

Two people were killed in a violent wreck, and two people were stabbed at a mall during a tragic weekend in Jersey City, police said. A stroller and toys were reportedly found on the roadway near the crash.

The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said two people were killed in a car wreck at 3 a.m. on Tonnelle Avenue early Sunday morning.

The northbound lanes of the roadway were closed between Manhattan Avenue and North Street for at least 6 hours after the wreck. At least two cars collided, and one car overturned.

The identities of the victims were not immediately available, and it's not known if there were any other injuries.

Children's toys and a stroller were found nearby, nj.com reported, and police at the scene threw a yellow ball across the street as they cleaned up the debris. Sources told the publication those killed were young adults.

Police in Jersey City, meanwhile, were investigating two stabbings at the Newport Centre Mall. The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Jersey City Police said two young adults suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and were taken to Jersey City Medical Center.

“I seen the cops running toward the crowd, but everybody split up coming from JCPenney,” witness Alqu Eddy told CBS2’s Lisa Rozner.

Merchandise was left a mess and blood stains could be seen on the floor of the bedding section, according to CBS2.
