4-Year-Old Dies After Taking Nap At School In Jersey City: Cops
The child was found after the nap and was unresponsive, authorities said.

A 4-year-old New Jersey student died after taking a nap at school on Thursday, according to authorities.
The boy, who was not identified, was unresponsive at the School 37 preschool in Jersey City after taking a nap, authorities said. The student was taken to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to Patch that it is investigating.

"We are deeply saddened by the death of a Pre-K student at the Cordero School, PS #37," the district said in a statement. "Our thoughts and most profound condolences go out to his family and the entire Cordero community who are now trying to come to terms with this tragedy."
To help support students and staff at the school, the district will have grief counselors available on Friday. The Early Childhood Department will be sending additional support to help his classmates and friends understand what happened.

“We were devastated to hear earlier this afternoon that school staff found an unresponsive Pre-K4 child after the afternoon nap, said Sudhan Thomas, president of the Board of Education.
"At this time our immediate focus is on the child’s parents and the larger PS #37 family to ensure they get the support and attention this tragedy demands," Thomas said. "The board is united in this moment of terrible tragedy with the PS #37 family. We request prayers and privacy at this sad moment.”
