LACEY, NJ — The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will host a public webinar to discuss power-plant decommissioning. The webinar gives concerned citizens an opportunity to ask the NRC questions about the decommissioning of Lacey's Oyster Creek Nuclear Power Plant.

The web discussion takes place from 1-3 p.m. Thursday. Participants must register to participate. Click here to register and find the link to the webinar.

The NRC says they are seeking feedback from community advisory boards in the webinar. Participants can view slides prepared by NRC staff and ask questions both verbally and in writing via the webpage set up to host the session.

The NRC will also hold a public meeting in or near Lacey by the end of October. Federal law requires the NRC to hold at least 10 public meetings across the nation by July 14, 2020, when they must submit a best-practices report to Congress. The NRC is still scheduling details on the Lacey-area public meeting, a spokesperson for the commission told Patch on Tuesday.
