Street parking is also prohibited:

Due to snowfall covering streets and highways, a snow emergency will be in effect beginning Saturday, January 24th, and continuing until streets have been sufficiently plowed.

What this means:

  • No parking is allowed on designated streets or highways while the emergency is in effect.
  • Parking restrictions remain in place after snowfall ends until streets are plowed enough that parking will not interfere with the normal flow of traffic.
  • Unoccupied vehicles parked in violation may be towed. Such vehicles are considered a traffic nuisance, and owners are responsible for all removal and storage costs.
  • Driving restrictions may be imposed as warranted by the severity of the storm to ensure public safety.

For those without shelter, a “Code Blue” alert has been extended in Ocean County until 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

“Code Blue” is put in place when temperatures drop below freezing (32 F), and conditions pose a threat to unsheltered individuals.

If you or someone you know does not have shelter in Ocean County, they can go to:

  • CSPNJ / County Building (Toms River)
  • Warm Hearts (Lakewood)
  • St. John’s Zion AME (Lakewood)
