LAKEWOOD, NJ — Lakewood police say social media posts referencing a "National Day of Hate" have not been found to have any credible threat in New Jersey, but they are taking steps to be prepared just in case.

Police Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said the police department "along with other agencies throughout the state" has been alerted to social media posts circulating that reference a supposed "National Day of Hate" on Saturday.

"At this time there isn't any credible information to suggest that these threats will impact New Jersey, more specifically, Lakewood," Staffordsmith said. "However, in response we have increased the number of on-duty officers, both marked and unmarked, to ensure the safety of our residents."
