• NEW: Lakewood Township Set to Approve Revised 2026 Budget With $7 Million In Cuts; Property Tax Increase (thelakewoodscoop.com) — Lakewood Township officials are moving ahead with a revised 2026 budget that cuts $7 million in spending while still raising the property tax levy to $114 million after state and federal aid fell through. Lost FEMA reimbursement and rejected tax-cap relief mean local taxpayers must absorb storm costs and reduced subsidies, including busing for some private school students, with final approval set for September 23.
   

• Donate Halloween costumes ahead of Toms River 'Geekstravaganza' (app.com) — Families in Lakewood can drop off gently used kids' costumes at the Lakewood branch of the Ocean County Library through Sept. 30 to help stock a free giveaway. Donated outfits will be handed out at Toms River's FanNation: The Geekstravaganza on Oct. 3, where registered kids can wear them for cosplay contests and Halloween.
   

• More Than 200 Boats Are Coming to ShoreTown Ballpark for Jersey Shore's Biggest Fall Boat Show (shorenewsnetwork.com) — ShoreTown Ballpark in Lakewood will swap baseball for boats Sept. 25-27, hosting more than 200 vessels, live music, kids' activities and an expanded Boater's Marketplace. Local families can explore new 2027 models, shop marine gear, enjoy food and entertainment, and even get admission to two future events with one online ticket, all for $10 and free parking.
