• Lakewood Township Renames Downtown Street in Honor of Late Fire Chief Richard Wallace (lakewoodalerts.com) — Division Street in downtown Lakewood is being renamed "Chief Richard C. Wallace Way" to honor the late longtime fire chief's six decades of service. With Fire Station 1 at the renamed intersection, officials say the tribute will be a daily reminder of his dedication to protecting Lakewood residents and mentoring generations of firefighters.
   

• Boys Soccer: Results and recaps for Friday, Sept. 4 (nj.com subscription) — Lakewood High's boys soccer team is on the road at Ewing this afternoon, part of a packed statewide slate of games. • Jack-knifed tractor trailer on Route 18 (app.com) — Drivers in Lakewood should be ready for a five-mile backup on the Garden State Parkway southbound, stretching from Exit 89A at Route 70 to around Exit 83 in Toms River. A jack-knifed tractor trailer on Route 18 and a water main break in Point Pleasant Beach are adding to pre-Labor Day congestion for anyone heading toward or from town.
