Donate a Cellphone, Support Our Troops

AT&T is asking area residents to drop off their used cellphones at its Lawrenceville location to help support troops stationed away from home.

Editor's Note; The following is a press release issued by AT&T.

As the Fourth of July approaches, AT&T wants to encourage Lawrenceville area residents to recycle their old cell phones to help support U.S. military troops serving overseas.  Recycling old cellphones to benefit those in the military is a very simple way to support them and recognize the sacrifices they make to serve our country.

Wireless customers are encouraged to dig those old cellphones out of the drawers that they're stuffed in and drop them off at the AT&T store located at the Mercer Mall, 3373 US Hwy 1, Suite 54A, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.  Before donating devices, individuals should remove the SIM card, erase their data and restore their device to factory settings.

The phones will be donated to Cell Phones for Soldiers - a charity that uses recycling proceeds to buy and send free phone cards to military members stationed away from home.

Since July 2007, AT&T and its customers have supported Cell Phones for Soldiers.  In the past six years, AT&T has donated more than $4 million and distributed more than 600,000 AT&T prepaid calling cards to servicemen and women overseas.
