Lawrence High School Hosts Relay For Life
Lawrence High School will host Relay For Life event on May 17.

Lawrence Township residents will join forces with their local American Cancer Society to work toward the same goal: To help unravel the mystery of how cancer begins and seek better ways to prevent, detect and treat the disease.
Residents will team up together in the battle against cancer at the 2013 American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Lawrence Township at Lawrence High School on May 17 starting at 4:30 p.m. and ending at 9 p.m., with the closing ceremonies and luminaria beginning at 8:45 p.m.
“Relay For Life gives Lawrence Township a unique opportunity to contribute to the American Cancer Society’s mission of saving lives, by helping people stay well, get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back,” said Stephanie Coutros, Director of Special Events for the American Cancer Society. “Residents who give their time, energy and financial commitment to this exciting event are really standing up for our community and its pledge to join the fight.”

Participants at the event will decorate their designated camp site, have at least one team member on the Lawrence High School track throughout the Friday evening, and join in team activities such as tug-of-war, and fight back by pledging not to start smoking or to quit the habit. Lawrence Township Public Schools will celebrate this year’s Relay with educational activities and events throughout the day.
Relay celebrates people who have battled cancer, remembers loved ones lost, and provides participants with an opportunity to fight back against the disease – all aimed at furthering the American Cancer Society’s vision of a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
