$12.9M In Coronavirus Relief Coming For Saint Barnabas Hospital

Rep. Mikie Sherrill: "Our hospitals have moved heaven and earth to care for the residents of this community during the pandemic."

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston will get almost $13 million in federal funding from the latest disbursement of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, officials say.

In May, New Jersey hospitals received $1.7 billion in the first round of the CARES Act. A new round of funding will distribute a total of $10 billion in funding to hospitals across the country through the Provider Relief Fund starting this week.

Saint Barnabas hospital will get $12,940,348, according to Rep. Mikie Sherrill, who represents the 11th District, including Livingston.

“Our hospitals have moved heaven and earth to care for the residents of this community during the pandemic,” Sherrill said. “I’ve fought to ensure our frontline healthcare workers have the resources they need to keep themselves safe and our hospitals whole.

Sherrill said the second round of funding reflects the work of the New Jersey delegation to ensure that hospitals who had the highest number of COVID cases received the largest portion of funding.
