An Apple Pressing Engagement @ The Early School of TBA
Farmer Chris from Quiver Farms, Pennsburg, Pennsylvania Visits The Early School
When Farmer Chris from Quiver Farms, Pennsburg, Pennsylvania walked into The Early School of Temple B’nai Abraham, in Livingston, with apples, an apple press and grinder followed by an array of animals─ 2 rabbits, 2 guinea pigs and a miniature horse named Conrad, it was beginning of an exciting, educational and interactive adventure for the students!
Fittingly with the opening of the fall season of the NJ apple harvest and in recognition of the recent celebration New Year 5779, where apples are a prominent symbol, Farmer Chris engaged the students in the hands-on process of turning apples into apple cider. The children placed the apples into washers to clean the apples, then they all took turns dropping the apples into the grinder where Farmer Chris, ground the apples first and then pressed the apple pieces and then, voila, the children saw and experienced how an apple becomes yummy cider…and of course had the opportunity to sample the delicious drink!

Everything they do at Quiver Farm is some type of farming made into an fun informational presentation which brings the farm life to their participants. Each program is unique by not only its tools, but also the animals that are part of it.
