A report said that Democratic Councilman Rudy Fernandez decided not to seek a fifth term on the council this year. This opened up the spot for educator Rosaura Bagolie to run, noted the New Jersey Globe.

Bagolie runs with incumbent Democrats Shawn Klein and Edward Meinhardt, who are up for re-election this year.
