An Essex County father and his son are among the victims of a fatal, multi-vehicle crash on the Cross Bronx Expressway on Tuesday: Report

LIVINGSTON, NJ — An Essex County father and his son are among the victims of a fatal, multi-vehicle crash on the Cross Bronx Expressway on Tuesday, reports say.
Henry Walker, 51, of Livingston, was killed along with two other passengers – his son, Khalil Walker, 21, of Tobbyhanna, PA, and another man whose identity hasn’t yet been released - when a tractor trailer collided with their Ford pickup truck around 5:45 a.m. in the northbound lanes at Webster Avenue, ABC New York reported.
A NYPD highway inspector stated that the crash took place when traffic forced a tractor trailer to stop in the middle lane of the highway. Walker stopped his truck directly behind the big rig, but another tractor trailer behind him couldn’t halt in time and struck his vehicle, then careened off and hit a Toyota Corolla.

The impact sent the Ford into the tractor trailer in front of them, wedging it under the truck, police said.
Henry and Khalil Walker, along with the other passenger, were pronounced dead on the scene, authorities said. Emergency responders transported two other passengers inside their pickup truck to the hospital in serious condition.

The driver of the Toyota was also seriously hurt, and two occupants of the second tractor-trailer suffered non life-threatening injuries, ABC New York reported.
All of the drivers involved in the collision had clean driving records and there was no evidence of alcohol on either tractor trailer driver, police said.
Authorities are conducting an investigation into the crash, which closed the highway’s eastbound lanes and caused significant backups at the George Washington Bridge.
