Mike Pence Stumps For Republican Jay Webber In NJ-11

U.S. Congress candidate Jay Webber and Mike Pence grabbed a slice of New Jersey cheesecake at a diner near the Livingston border.

The congressional campaign of Republican Jay Webber recently gained a high-profile shot in the arm when Vice President Mike Pence appeared to lend words of support for the 11th District candidate in New Jersey.

Last week, after an appearance in Michigan, the vice president boarded Air Force Two and flew to the Garden State to stump for Webber, who earned the Republican nomination for the U.S. House of Representatives in June’s Primary Election.

“President @realDonaldTrump is all-in… I am all-in,” Pence wrote. “And, when the people of New Jersey go all-in, the Garden State will send @JayWebberNJ to Congress to help us Make America Great Again.”

One of Pence’s first stops with Webber was to a diner on the Livingston border to “visit with the hardworking staff and patrons of the Florham Park Diner”… and get a slice of classic New Jersey cheesecake.

Pence tweeted about his visit to the local eatery:

“Great campaigning with @JayWebberNJ, the next congressman from #NJ11! We stopped by Florham Park Diner to visit with the hardworking staff and patrons. Thanks for your hospitality! VOTE for Jay Webber in November!”

Pence also appeared at a fundraising event with Webber on Friday in Morristown. Tickets for the lunch reception ran from $1,000 to $25,000, New Jersey Globe stated. It was reportedly Pence’s first political visit to New Jersey since Donald Trump picked him as his running mate in 2016.

Webber was grateful for Pence’s support and thanked the vice president on Twitter:

“Our campaign is hopeful and optimistic about the future of our great nation,” Webber enthused. “We're focused on creating jobs, lowering taxes, and increasing opportunity, and look forward to working with anyone who shares that vision!”

Just three days before his appearance with Pence, Webber spent the day at the annual Livingston National Night Out event.

Webber will pit himself against his main opponent, Democratic nominee Mikie Sherrill in November to see who will represent the state’s 11th congressional district, which includes parts of Essex, Morris, Passaic and Sussex counties.

Both are campaigning to fill the seat of soon-to-retire Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen, a veteran Republican who currently chairs the powerful U.S. House Appropriations Committee.
