WATCH: See This Biker's 'Toll-Cheating' License Plate Device In Action

Press a toggle switch and a license plate unfolds from under the motorcycle, Port Authority police say.

They say that necessity is the mother of invention.

On Sunday, Port Authority police arrested a New Jersey motorcycle rider who allegedly took the above adage to heart, rigging his bike with a toll cheating device that raised and lowered a license plate with the flip of a switch, authorities stated.

According to the Port Authority of NY/NJ, officers on duty allegedly saw the device in action as Henry Pogue, 51, of Roselle, drove his 2010 Victory motorcycle through an EZ Pass-only lane at the Holland Tunnel.

“As [Pogue’s] motorcycle passed, police saw the license plate of the vehicle retract under the motorcycle so that the plate could not be read,” a Port Authority spokesman stated.

When officers stopped Pogue and approached the motorcycle, they allegedly saw him activate a toggle switch that made a license plate extend from underneath the bike, police said.

Port Authority officers demonstrate how the device works in the below video.

Pogue allegedly admitted that he didn’t pay the toll and had no EZ Pass, police said.

Officers also found a metal pipe and a small container of marijuana in a pouch on the motorcycle, police stated.

Authorities arrested Pogue and charged him with theft of service, possession of drug paraphernalia, unclear license plates and possession of a CDS in a motor vehicle.
