LONG VALLEY, NJ — The Long Valley Junior Women's Club (LVJWC) recently announced that it has given ten graduates from the West Morris Central High School Class of 2022 $10,000 scholarships.

The LVJWC is a volunteer-run organization that raises funds through a variety of fundraisers and programs, including the CARE afterschool program and the Racks Valley Boutique in downtown Long Valley.

Last year, the organization raised over $90,000 to put back into the community and programs like emergency services, the local food pantry, the senior center, mental health and community safety programs, the scholarship program and more.

"We received applications from many amazing and well-deserving students which made our work in choosing the recipients incredibly difficult. Careful consideration was given to each application. The awards were given to ten students who stood out based on dedication to their academic career, their essay submission, financial need, leadership and school involvement, but more importantly those who demonstrated a commitment to serving and giving back within their community which goes hand in hand with LVJWC’s primary mission," said Kate Nelson, LVJWC co-president.

At the 2022 Senior Awards ceremony at West Morris Central on Thursday, June 2nd, approximately $95,000 in scholarships and awards were distributed. Nelson stated that the LVJWC was proud to have distributed more than 10 percent of the total WMC scholarship awards this year.
