150 Heroin Packets Found During Traffic Stop: WTPD
Police made multiple arrests between Jan. 18 and Jan. 28, including for heroin. Read about their arrests here.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Two people were arrested after Washington Township police say they found 150 packets of heroin during a traffic stop Sunday morning.
David McCarthy, 37, and Tara Edrington, 31, both from Bushkill, Pennsylvania, were arrested just after midnight on Sunday morning. Their car was pulled over on Rt. 46 for a motor vehicle violation, police said. The car smelled like marijuana, which police say led to a search.
150 bags of heroin were found, and both people were arrested.

McCarthy was charged with possession of heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Edrington was charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. She was also ticketed for speeding, careless driving and possession of drugs in a motor vehicle.
Both were released with an upcoming court date.

On January 18, 2018 at 3:.56 p.m., Patrol Officer Kevin Barnes conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 46 for a motor vehicle violation. Upon speaking with the driver who was identified as Robert Large, PO Barnes determined that Mr. large had an active warrant for his arrest, which was issued by Middlesex County Sherriff’s Department. A subsequent investigation by PO Barnes found that Mr. large was in possession of hypodermic needles along with drug paraphernalia. Mr. Large was placed under arrest transported to the Washington Township Police Headquarters.
Mr. Large was issued a Criminal Complaint for possession of hypodermic needles along with drug paraphernalia. Mr. Large was also issued a motor vehicle complaint for maintenance of lamps. Mr. Large was later turned over to Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department.
On January 27, 2018 at 1:55 p.m., Patrol Officer Frank Giaquinto conducted a motor vehicle stop on Schooley’s Mountain Road for a motor vehicle violation. While speaking to the operator of the vehicle, who was identified as John Waters, PO Giaquinto detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from within the vehicle. A subsequent investigation by PO Giaquinto determined that Mr. Waters was operating his vehicle while intoxicated. Mr. Waters was placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters.
Mr. Waters was issued the following motor vehicle complaints; Speeding, Failure to wear seatbelt, Failure to Keep Right, Reckless Driving and DWI. Mr. Waters was later released to a responsible adult with a pending court date in Washington Township Municipal Court.
On January 28, 2018 at 2:24 p.m., Sgt. Robert Oranchak conducted a motor vehicle stop on Rt 46 for a motor vehicle violation. While speaking to the operator of the vehicle who was identified as Mallory Rossi, Sgt. Oranchak detected an odor of marijuana emanating from within the vehicle. A subsequent investigation by Sgt. Oranchak determined that Ms. Rossi was in possession of Marijuana. Ms. Rossi was placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters.
Ms. Rossi was issued a Criminal Complaint for Possession of Marijuana (under 50 grams) along with a motor vehicle complaint for Delaying Traffic. Ms. Rossi was later released with a pending court date in Washington Township Municipal Court.
On January 27, 2018 at 10:03 p.m., Patrol Officer Daniel Hudspith conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 46 for a motor vehicle violation. Upon speaking to the occupants of the vehicle, PO Hudspith determined that narcotics where in the vehicle. A subsequent investigation by PO Hudspith along with the assistance of Morris County Sheriff’s Office K-9, PO Hudspith determined that the operator of the vehicle, Andres Suarez was in possession of Marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Suarez was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington Township Police Headquarters.
Mr. Suarez was issued a Criminal Complaint for possession of Marijuana (under 50 grams) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Suarez was also issued motor vehicle complaints for Failure to stop or yield and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. Mr. Suarez was later released with a mandatory court date in the Washington Township Municipal Court.
