3 Children Injured in Rollover Crash on Bartley Road, Police Say

Two-car crash results in careless driving summons for Long Valley teen, police report.

A family of five was taken to Morristown Medical Center after a two-car crash on Bartley Road Thursday night, Washington Township Police said.

Police responded to Bartley Road in the area of Palmer Park at 6:18 p.m. for a report of a motor vehicle crash, Lt. Doug Compton said. When police arrived they found one vehicle rolled over as a result of the crash.

An investigation showed the driver of a Dodge Dakota was traveling south on Bartley Road when it crossed over the yellow line and struck a Chevrolet Avalanche, Compton said. The reason for crossing over into the other lane was unknown, Compton said.

The Dodge was operated by a 17-year-old from Long Valley, whose name was not disclosed because of age. The Chevy was driven by a Hackettstown man, 45, who had four passengers: a woman, 42, boy, 11, girl, 8, and girl, 1, Compton said.

All five were taken by ambulance to Morristown Medical Center with minor injuries, Compton said.

The juvenile from Long Valley was issued a careless driving summons, and the roadway was closed for approximately one hour between South Four Bridges Road and the intersection of Coleman and Bartley Roads, Compton said.
