9 Arrests Tallied in March for Washington Twp. Police

Collars decrease, calls remain high for twp., Califon Borough policing.

While criminal activity slowed down a bit in Washington Township for the month of March, the first quarter of the year was filled with activity.

Washington Township police made nine arrests in March, down from 21 in February and 26 in January, according to Lt. Doug Compton.

Over the first three months, police fielded 9,446 total calls – a call is any incident or assignment given to a police officer – and dispensed 1,294 driving tickets.

During the same timeframe a total of 56 arrests were made.

Officers Mike Thompson, Dan Parrish, and Kevin Barnes led the way, notching eight arrests each, Compton said.

Thompson made four arrests for controlled dangerous substances; two arrests for outstanding warrants; one driving while intoxicated arrest; and one arrest for an undisclosed reason.

Parrish made one driving while intoxicated arrest; six warrant arrests; and one for an undisclosed reason.

Barnes made five controlled dangerous substance arrests and three arrests for undisclosed reasons.

Ryan Olah was right behind the top three, making five arrests. Two of those were for driving while intoxicated; two were for controlled dangerous substance; and one more for a warrant arrest.
