Abandoned Car, Drunk Driving, And Other Recent Washington Twp. Police Activity

Police made multiple arrests last week.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Washington Township Police arrested one man after they say he abandoned his damaged car while drunk.

On May 22, at 1:25 p.m., police responded to an abandoned car that has "significant damage" on the shoulder of West Mill Road. The driver, Karl Wrede, 29, of Randolph, was found during an investigation.

He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to provide breath samples. He was released to a responsible adult with an upcoming court date.

Other police activity:

On May 26, 2017 at 8:02 a.m., Patrol Officer Ryan Olah conducted a motor vehicle stop on Rt 46 for a motor vehicle violation. While speaking to the driver who was identified as Kevin Mc Court, PO Olah detected the odor of alcohol emanating from within the vehicle. A subsequent investigation by PO Olah determined that Mr. Mc Court was under the influence of alcohol. Mr. McCourt was placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters. Mr. McCourt was issued motor vehicle complaints for Speeding, DWI and Reckless driving. Mr. McCourt was later released to a responsible adult with a pending court date in Washington Township Municipal Court.

On May 27, 2017 at 10:11 p.m., Washington Township Police Department received notification of an erratic driver traveling on East Avenue. Patrol Officer Derek Heymer located the vehicle in question and conducted a motor vehicle stop on Drakestown Road. Upon speaking with the driver who was identified as Donald A. Commerford, PO Heymer detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from within the vehicle. A subsequent investigation by PO Heymer determined that Mr. Commerford was under the influence and was placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters. Mr. Commerford was issued the following motor vehicle complaints; DWI, Refusal to Submit Breath Samples, Reckless Driving and Failure to Keep Right. Mr. Commerford was later released to a responsible adult with a pending court date in Washington Township Municipal Court.

On May 28, 2017 at 1:31 a.m., Patrol Officer Frank Giaquinto conducted a motor vehicle stop on Rt 46 for an equipment violation. While speaking to the driver who was identified as Craig Thomas, PO Giaquinto detected the odor of marijuana emanating from within the vehicle. A subsequent investigation by PO Giaquinto determined that Mr. Thomas was in possession of marijuana. Mr. Thomas was placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters. Mr. Thomas was issued Criminal Complaints for Possession of marijuana (under 50 grams) and being under the influence of CDS. Mr. Thomas was also issued the following motor vehicle complaints; Failure to maintain lane, Improper safety glass, Careless driving, Unclear plates, and Possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. Mr. Thomas was later released to a responsible adult with a pending court date in Washington Township Municipal Court.

On May 28, 2017 at 1:44 a.m., Patrol Officer Daniel Hudspith conducted a motor vehicle stop on East Mill Road for a motor vehicle violation. Upon speaking with the driver who was identified as Ehren Kolenovic, PO Hudspith detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from within the vehicle. A subsequent investigation by PO Hudspith determined that Mr. Kolenovic was under the influence and was placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters. Mr. Kolenovic was issued the following motor vehicle complaints DWI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane and Open Container of an Alcoholic Beverage. Mr. Kolenovic was later released to a responsible adult with a pending court date in Washington Township Municipal Court.

On May 29, 2017 at 2:10 a.m., Patrol Officer Frank Giaquinto conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 46 for a motor vehicle violation. Upon speaking with the driver who was identified as Jose Restrepo-Henao, PO Giaquinto detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from within the vehicle. A subsequent investigation revealed Mr. Restrepo- Henao was under the influence. Mr. Restrepo-Henao was placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters. Mr. Restrepo-Henao was issued the following motor vehicle complaints; DWI, Reckless Driving and Failure to Maintain Lane. Mr. Restrepo-Henao was later released to a responsible adult with a pending court date in Washington Township Municipal Court.
