Armed Officers To Be Placed In West Morris Regional High Schools
The West Morris Regional High School board voted to place armed, Class 3 police officers in both schools in the district starting in September. This decision is similar to that of neighboring districts and is in response to the Uvalde, Texas school massacre, in which 19 elementary school students and two teachers were killed.

Water Tag Battle Planned For Washington Township Children
With the arrival of the summer days and heat, Washington Township Recreation is hosting a "Water Tag-Water Battle" for kids to enjoy. One of Rock Spring Park's fields will be transformed into a modern water tag arena by Game Truck. "The water tag equipment will turn that hot sun into cool fun while maintaining a safe distance," Washington Township Recreation said.

$15K Coming To Historic Schooley's Mountain General Store
A historic Washington Township business received a $15,000 check from the Morris County Small Business Grant Program today, as the Morris County Board of County Commissioners continues to assist businesses and nonprofits impacted by the pandemic. Schooley's Mountain General Store, one of New Jersey's oldest continuously operating country markets, was visited by Commissioner Deputy Director John Krickus and Washington Township Mayor Matt Murello.
Road Improvement Project On Washington Township Committee Agenda
A future road improvement project will be discussed at the next Washington Township Committee meeting, along with applications for three upcoming township events. According to the council agenda, the proposed ordinance calls for the council to award a contract to the New Jersey Department of Transportation for the first phase of an improvement project on Kings Highway Road.
More Than $50K Given To Long Valley In Statewide Road Clean Up Plan
By awarding $21.4 million in Clean Communities grants this year, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is bolstering statewide efforts to remove litter, beautify neighborhoods, and improve water quality. Washington Township will be allocated $53,952 for 2022.
Long Valley Veterans Have Access To New Counseling Service
Under a contract with the Mental Health Association (MHA), Morris County has launched a "Veteran and Family Support Program" to assist veterans in re-establishing themselves with their families and in the community after returning home from duty. The Veteran and Family Support Program is intended to provide veterans with free psychotherapy as well as group counseling and support for their families and friends.
Assault Weapons, Drugs Seized From Morris County Home: Prosecutor
Authorities seized 14 firearms, more than 100,000 rounds of ammunition and 100 high-capacity magazines, LSD, Psilocybin Mushrooms and Ketamine from the home of a 33-year-old Landing man, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said Friday. Erik Vandevelde, of Landing, was arrested on June 8 after authorities received information that led to the investigation of his residence, Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll said.
